N. Chandrababu Naidu, leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), has pledged to provide a 4% reservation for Muslims in Andhra Pradesh if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is elected to power. Speaking in Dharmavaram, Naidu emphasized TDP’s historical support for Muslim reservations and criticized Prime Minister Modi’s stance on quota distribution. Naidu highlighted TDP’s past achievements, including establishing an Urdu university and building Haj Houses. He also accused YSRCP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of failing to construct a single mosque in the past five years. Naidu further promised Rs 1 lakh financial aid for Haj pilgrims and outlined ambitious proposals for societal development.
However, the NDA partners’ joint manifesto did not mention four per cent reservation for Muslims, as announced by Chandrababu Naidu two days prior to that.
