Nitesh Rane and Ramgiri's Hate Speech: Maharashtra Government’s Silence Draws Criticism - deccanvoice, deccannews

Lakhs of people participated in the AIMIM’s “Tiranga Rally” in Mumbai, demanding the arrest of BJP MLA Nitesh Rane and Ramgiri Maharaj for spreading hate against the Muslim community. Despite multiple FIRs and public outrage, Maharashtra’s government, under BJP, has not taken concrete action. This inaction raises concerns about the government’s role in exacerbating tensions for electoral gains. Big leaders like Sharad Pawar have condemned these hate speeches, urging BJP to rein in their leaders.

Nitesh Rane’s inflammatory speeches, accusing Muslims of disturbing peace, have ignited tensions across the state. AIMIM leaders, including Imtiaz Jaleel, accused the government of conspiring to instigate Hindu-Muslim violence to benefit politically. Sharad Pawar, without directly naming Rane, strongly criticized the BJP for not curbing such rhetoric, warning that it could damage India’s unity.

The real question remains: why has the Maharashtra government chosen silence in the face of hate-mongering? Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ claim that Rane should “restrain himself” rings hollow as no action has been taken. Even leaders from NCP have raised concerns, but the BJP continues to allow its Hindutva leaders to spread division. The current situation reflects a deepening divide within the state, one that risks pushing the communal harmony of Maharashtra to a breaking point.

This rally highlights not just the discontent in Maharashtra but also raises questions about how far political leaders will go in supporting hate speech for their political gains. As long as the government remains silent, the societal impact of these hate-mongers continues to grow, challenging India’s secular fabric and peace.
