Netanyahu Admits ‘Tragic Mistake’ in Gaza Airstrike: International Outcry Over Aid Worker Deaths

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently acknowledged a “tragic mistake” following an airstrike on Rafah in the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of several aid workers from the World Central Kitchen (WCK). Netanyahu expressed sincere regret, stating that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) unintentionally targeted the aid convoy. He emphasized that such incidents, while unfortunate, can happen during war and promised a thorough investigation to prevent future occurrences.

The airstrike, which killed aid workers from Australia, Britain, Poland, and a dual U.S.-Canadian citizen, has led to widespread international condemnation and demands for accountability. Leaders from the affected countries, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, have called for a transparent and independent investigation into the incident​ .

The United Nations and various humanitarian organizations have reiterated the urgent need for a humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza to protect civilians and aid workers amid the ongoing conflict.
