Mid-Air Scare: Indian Hindu Passenger Abhay Nayak Charged After Alleged Threats and Chants "Allahu Akbar," on EasyJet Flight

An easyJet flight from London Luton to Glasgow was forced to make an emergency landing after an Indian Hindu passenger, Abhay Nayak, allegedly caused a significant mid-air scare. The 41-year-old from Luton was arrested and is now facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly threatening to “bomb” the aircraft and repeatedly yelling “Death to America, death to Trump,” followed by chants of “Allahu Akbar.”

The Mid-Flight Incident Unfolds

The alarming incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, July 27, when Nayak reportedly emerged from the aircraft’s lavatory and began a tirade of threats and slogans. Eyewitnesses reported his shouts of “Allahu Akbar,” alongside the alarming political slogans “Death to America” and “Death to Trump.” The nature of these shouts, particularly “Allahu Akbar,” amidst threats, has drawn attention to the complex and sensitive implications of such actions in a public setting.

The disruptive behavior prompted immediate concern from the flight crew and fellow passengers, who reportedly managed to restrain Nayak. Prioritizing the safety of everyone on board, the flight was diverted and made an emergency landing at Glasgow Airport, where police were on standby to take the individual into custody.

Charges and Ongoing Investigation

Following his arrest at Glasgow Airport, Abhay Nayak has been charged with assault and endangering the safety of an aircraft under the United Kingdom’s air navigation laws. He has appeared in Paisley Sheriff Court, though he has not yet entered a plea. He remains in custody, with his next court appearance scheduled shortly.

Authorities have confirmed that as of now, Nayak is not facing terrorism charges, and no explosives were recovered from the aircraft. The investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full context and motivation behind his actions.

The incident highlights the serious consequences of disruptive behavior and threats on commercial flights, underscoring the stringent measures taken by aviation authorities worldwide to ensure passenger safety and security.
