Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna to Appear Before SIT Amid Sexual Abuse Allegations

Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, facing multiple charges of sexual abuse, announced he will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31. Revanna, who had left for Germany a month ago, claims the accusations are false and part of a political conspiracy, leading him to depression.

In a widely circulated video statement, Revanna expressed his intention to cooperate with the investigation and his faith in the judiciary. He apologized to his family and supporters, explaining his absence and depression due to political attacks. Despite seeking time to respond to the SIT notice, he criticized Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, for politicizing his case.

Revanna, grandson of JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda, faces serious allegations and an arrest warrant issued on May 18. Interpol has issued a Blue Corner Notice at the request of the SIT through the CBI. The Karnataka government has urged the cancellation of his diplomatic passport, with the Ministry of External Affairs serving him a show cause notice.

The scandal has ignited political tensions between the ruling Congress and the BJP-JD(S) alliance. Explicit videos allegedly involving Revanna surfaced before the April 26 Lok Sabha polls, leading to his suspension from JD(S) and calls from his family to return and face the allegations. Deve Gowda emphasized the need for a fair investigation and harsh punishment if Revanna is found guilty.
